How to deal with my violent brother?

My brother makes me so mad that i can't even think clearly sometimes. He is very verbally abusive towards me and my mother. Today my mom called him and told him he has baseball pictures, he then began to flip out over the phone calling my mother a dumb ***** (He claims he said this is dumb ****). But i recorded him saying "Dumb *****". I texted my mom saying i have proof he called you that. After that she called him back saying i know what i heard, and got him to admit what he said, he claims he is sorry and truly feels bad, so he hangs up the phone only to scream effing hore (can't use the W) He constantly lies. My dad works daytime sometimes, and whenever confronted by my dad he makes up some dumb lie to get us both in trouble when really he is the one to blame. When my dad is here there is never any proplems because my dad wont take any of his BS. He is also very violent he has thrown things at me, punched me, tried to choke me, you name it. Whenever we get into arguements he always tries to downgrade me and even wishes me death. He said one time i can't wait to you effing die so i can spit on your casket. He has anger problems, but he won't admit it. He has been caught selling weed to before and my parents especially my dad claim it was just a mistake. He needs some serious counseling, but if we ever told him he was going to anger mangement classes he would probably murder us and i'm not exagerating. He is very unpredictable. Sometimes he gets mad and sometimes he doesn't. There is also no way i can physically defend myself from him as he is two grades older than me and is an avid weightlifter. Please i need help he really needs to be controlled, he cusses, throws things attacks people, and is just an all around ******. Please i need some advice before he or I really snap.
